| Executive Summary |

| CFSSP a non-profit organization under the CIF San Francisco Foundation was established by Director Bob Demmons in 2005. With funding from the Ford Foundation, the project will coordinate a team of physiologists, fitness experts, safety experts, subject matter personnel, industrial psychologists, and representatives from firefighter organizations and others who are interested in creating an entry-level selection process that is valid and non- discriminatory. As members of the fire departments and fire organizations, your input and involvement are crucial to the success of this project. At different points during the project, we may need to call upon you and your peers to gauge our thinking in a number of areas, such as: the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position of entry-level firefighter, dealing with local government agencies, the importance of community involvement, and more. One of the first areas where your assistance is needed is in the area of recruitment. We would like to be able to communicate with individuals that have been involved in your department’s recruitment efforts. Their assistance will be invaluable in our efforts to reach our goal. We hope that you find our project valuable to the fire service and the community. If you are interested in our project and would like more information, please click on the "Contact Us" button. |
