The mission of the Community Fire Service Selection Project
(CFSSP) is to create non-discriminatory valid selection devices
for entry into the uniform ranks of fire departments.
Historically, Metropolitan Fire Departments across the country are
widely viewed as institutions where men form a culture of service,
bravery, and camaraderie, steeped in tradition. The Fire Service
exhibits more resistance to the employment of women than any
other public employee profession.
A significant benefit as a result of achieving CFSSP's mission,
will be the opportunity for fire departments to exhibit true diversity
in the fire service. Ultimately, this will impact the shape of fire
departments nationally, thus impacting our communities as a
whole.
